Listen, My Children...

Every Little Helps

Saw the second X-Men movie last night. It contains two of the most attractive people in Hollywood today: Halle Berry (she may be one of the most beautiful ever) and Patrick Stewart. Yes, I know perhaps at most one of my readers will agree with me on him. Yes, Hugh Jackman's pretty, some of the other boys are nicely built, but none of them have the class and appeal of Jean-Luc.

Anyhow. At the beginning of the movie (this will be a spoiler only if you haven't seen any of the previews), there is an attack on the President by a mutant wielding a knife saying "Mutant freedom now" or something similar. My thought, upon seeing that sign, was: how idiotic and deluded do you have to be to think that attacking people and trying to assassinate the leader of the country will make the general public feel you are now worthy and deserving and responsible enough to get whatever it is you want (be it freedom, equal rights, your own country, etc.)? My next thought: but wait! there are groups who do believe that in certain parts of the world, and there are certain Harvard students who believe such actions are entirely justified and show a duty to give those deserving people what they want.

You'll have to watch the movie yourself to learn the nuances of the attack, but, as it was first presented, my point still stands.
