Two great articles in the Jewish World Review; one about Saudi problems and the US's bias against victims of Saudi barbarities and the other about why the ICC ain't too hot an idea.

Dan Savage really does us proud this time. He explains why to go to war with Iraq, and proves that it's not just a follow-bush-blindly brainwashed-by-conservatives viewpoint (as I've been told all mine are).

Dogs... :)
ours will come up to us with a rope or other tug-of-war toy, and drop it in front of us to ask us to play with him. If we say no, he'll go drop it in front of a cat :) he just can't understand why they won't play!

I called Bob's mother and we're going to see a movie together. Mr. Scary says that it shouldn't really be, "date me, date my mother," but... well, that's just how it is.

Funniest thing I've heard in a while -- honey is evil, says an activist group, because it "uses the forced labor of oppressed bees."

I love talk radio, local papers, and local tv (to a tiny extent) -- they're the only people allowing the OTHER black people to get a voice. They say that the black people are keeping themselves down, "we do more harm to each other than all the slavery whites did to us," we need to focus on the moral depravity in the black community rather than whether Sony with its multimillionaire black singers is racist.

Eewww. NAACP conference in Houston right now. Kweisi Mfume yesterday said that any black who would vote Republican or support the Republican party is a "stooge" and a "ventriloquist's dummy." This at the same time as they're calling for greater tolerance and diversity. Guess that's not ideological diversity. Apparently, also, George Bush and John Ashcroft (according to Julian Bond) are "the most dangerous combination" ever, and to guard against terrorist attacks we need to "profile white American multimillionaires like Kenny-Boy Lay" (ummm how many people have they killed?). They disgust me.

And a fabulous piece from the Opinion Journal on how dictionaries will define Hitler as a "dictator" but Stalin as a "statesman".....

Instapundit has an interesting post here, on the woes of the Arab world and why they're (gasp!) their own fault!

My goodness -- just said no to a (black) panhandler, who then called me "cracker" -- first time I've been called racist to my face by a panhandler. Because of course there could be no other reason besides his skin color why I wouldn't give him money!

My God, why can't they just call a spade a spade? once again, a youngish Muslim man, who was "incensed" (landlord's word) when his neighbor hung up an American flag last September, goes and kills Americans and/or Israelis (frequently making no distinction between the two), in an airport. And they say it's an "isolated incident" and ask Grandma Moses to take off her shoes for them.

Craj, I'm so fed up with the division of people into specific races!
There was a problem in Houston decades ago with the classification of Hispanic students as "white" or "colored", whichever would make the desegregation move easier. Similar problem now with mixed-race students, some so much of mutts (like Tiger Woods) that there's really no clear place or even just two from which to choose. I don't put myself down anymore, and I'm definitely going to change my name if I marry Bob...

There was a fun recent article in the Houston Chronicle about a Euro-American (thank you Diana Eck) woman who married an Asian guy and changed her name to Chang; she wrote about suddenly being labelled as "minority" just based on her new name :) I want that!

And Bob was in town this weekend... I got to see him for all of 30 minutes. Damn medical school applications.

and I have a gorgeous antique platinum-sapphire-and-diamond watch for my birthday, matching the same-material wedding set from my great-great-grandmother -- which makes me get misty whenever I think of it, watching all my friends get married and wondering if my time will ever come! But Bob and I have a ton of things to work out first anyways... and I still need to call his mother. We'll see.

I've fallen prey to the delights of Instapundit. Intelligent, eager to take on firestorm-starting topics such as (my obvious favorite) interracial marriage (he also got the comment that it's all about exotic sex thrills), and a dad :) he's great!
